About the course
Aviation and the Air Medical Crew introduces the human, operational, and aviation factors that shape safe and effective critical care transport. In the air medical environment, excellent clinical care depends not only on medical knowledge and technical skill, but also on the ability to perform under stress, communicate clearly, maintain situational awareness, and function as part of a coordinated crew. This course explores how individual performance is affected by pressure, fatigue, workload, task saturation, and rapidly changing conditions, while emphasizing the principles of crew resource management, effective team communication, and shared decision-making. Learners will examine how the medical crew integrates with pilots and aviation personnel to support mission safety, anticipate hazards, manage competing priorities, and deliver patient care within the unique constraints of transport medicine.
